Andy Murray and Kim Sears have welcomed their baby.

Tennis pro Andy Murray and his wife Kim Sears have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl.

The birth was confirmed by Shirley Erskine, the world number two’s grandmother, who said she was “absolutely delighted” by the arrival of the little girl who was born on Sunday.

“It seems a long time that we’ve been waiting for this but all’s well now as far as I know. I don’t have any details I Just know that I’ve got a great granddaughter so that is just lovely,” Erskine told the BBC.

Murray and Sears were married in Scotland last April and announced Sears’ pregnancy four months later.

Murray’s mother Judy – a tennis coach – had previously told Hello! she was looking forward to being an “active granny” to her first grandchild and shared her joy over the birth on Twitter.

Murray is currently taking some time off from tennis to enjoy parenthood after losing the Australian Open final to Novak Djokovic.
