2012 Pirelli Calendar + week in pics (NSFW)

If you’re offended by nudity, you might want to skip this gallery because there’s rather a lot of it.

What there isn’t? Diversity. More’s the pity. The 2012 Pirelli Calendar – shot by Mario Sorrenti – has been released and it stars some of the world’s highest paid and most successful editorial models including Kate Moss and Milla Jovovich.

In case you’re nor fam the the Pirelli Calendar, it’s a slightly weird thing – an annual shoot of A-list models and actresses – naked, but arty. While the ages of the models range from 22 to 37 (Kate Moss), the body types are sadly the same. More info about it under the gallery.

Also in the week’s pictures that have grabbed out attention, there’s the “private” photos of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (ironically leaked  via Facebook), the Barbie doll version of which pop music star? and the H&M ad campaign that everyone’s talking about…

More about the Pirelli calendar which stars: Kate Moss, Seenus, Malgosia, Edita Vilkevicute, Milla Jovovich, Margareth Made, and Rinko Kikuchi.

According to Jezebel….

This morning in New York City, fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti unveiled the 2012 Pirelli calendar — the limited-edition corporate gift for top clients, published annually by the tire brand, that just happens to double as one of modeling’s most prestigious gigs. The Pirelli calendar is to the girlie calendar in the employee bathroom of your local auto shop as the New York Review is to Reader’s Digest.

The models range in age (at least slightly: Vilkeviciute at 22 is the youngest, and Moss, at 37, the eldest; Jovovich is 35, and Bela is 34) and some are actors, but the Pirelli calendar would be even lovelier if it presented a more diverse and varied conception of female beauty.

Some of those women in the calendar look way too thin. Seriously underweight, yuck. And whats with the lack of pubic hair? Are we supposed to look prepubescent? From an aesthetic perspective, I think a bit of flesh on ones bones looks healthy and kind of cherubic. All those ribs and collar bones sticking out makes them look like third world women dying of starvation.

That's nice 12 years ago

so lovely tp say someone else's body looks yuck.

Nice one!

I hope you never have a daughter who grows up to be naturally thin! Yuck!

I've had ribs and collar bones that stick out since I was a child, I'm 32. I weigh 65kg. If I was to put on 10kg I'd still have ribs and collar bones that stick out because it's just the way I'm built.

I found your comment hurtful, and it takes a bit to rattle me.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to say that you don't find those women attractive, but I think that you went too far saying that they're yuk and then insulting them. It just wasn't necessary.

not all thin people are from 3rd world countries.
you may just have gotten used to america's Pleasantly Plump Population.

Wow - all I can say is wow after seeing those pics. I am in awe of how beauiful some women are. I don't think we need to get all narky and compare them to ourselves - it's just about appreciating beauty at a really high level.
