Which do you choose? Your face or your arse? And also? Happy Easter.

[*when I searched 'face or arse' this is one of the few SFW images that came up. Perhaps I should have re-phrased that….google though I was looking for faces that LOOKED like arses….still, I really like this image so here it is]

Mae West was the first person to articulate the dilemma faced by women of a certain age who are forced to make a choice between their face and their arse. The point being, as you reach, say, 35+, you need some fat in your face to fill out  your wrinkles.
So a small (skinny) arse probably requires a body fat percentage so low and a level of exercise so high that your face will suffer for it.
Hence the face vs arse dilemma. Madonna chose her ass. So did Courtney Cox. Both have admitted exactly that. And now science has proven what we all suspected.

A US study has found that one of the keys to retaining youthful
looks is having more fat on your face as you get older.

However it found the opposite applied to those aged under
40. Australian Society of Plastic Surgery spokesperson Dr Peter
Callan said as we age the face not only drops but also loses fat
and bone.

"There's no doubt that facial volume has a big impact on how you
look and how the skin drapes over your face," Dr Callan said. "In a young person they have plenty of facial volume and fat,
they have lustrous skin which drapes over a nice foundation so they
look young. As we get older we have a thinner skin, sun damaged,
possbily smoke damaged, plus we have facial descent and less facial
volume so the whole thing can hang more than it should."

It found that twins aged over 40 whose body mass index (BMI) was
higher by four points looked younger in the face. Prior to
this age the extra weight had an ageing effect. To maintain a youthful appearance as ageing continued, more
weight was needed on the face. From age 55 and over a woman with a
BMI eight points higher looked younger.

Exposure to the sun, a lack of sunscreen use and smoking also
had an effect.Dr Callan said sun exposure and smoking were more detrimental to
the skin than ageing itself. Stress, depression and traumatic life
events also played a part.

He said finding a good weight and maintaining it was a better
strategy than dramatic weight increases or weight losses."The answer is to try and keep a good weight, live a good
lifestyle and look after yourself," he said.

Of course, you could always inject your arse INTO your face via cosmetic fillers. You know, if you WANTED to. I think that's called having your arse and moving it too….

I'm at the age when I'm having to make a bit more of a conscious choice. I think I'm going to choose my face. I'm not going to stop exercising or let it all hang out (well, except the bits that do hang out…helloo muffin!) but I'm not going to aspire to skinny jeans.

Which do you choose? Or, if you're a bloke, which do you hope the woman in your life will choose?
