Victoria’s Secret models. Without airbrushing. From left: Alessandra Ambrosio, Crystal Renn and Brooklyn Decker
Victoria’s Secret models without airbrushing.Victoria’s Secret models without Photoshop. It doesn’t happen very often… but when it does? It ended up becoming out second most popular post of the year…
Number 2: Victoria’s Secret models without airbrushing, by NICKY CHAMP.
The imagery in their catalogues feature everything from over zealous airbrushing to missing limbs (you can see more in the gallery below), so when these unretouched shots of Victoria’s Secret models came our way, we rejoiced a little.
Left is Alessandra Ambrosio, Crystal Renn and Brooklyn Decker on the beach in St. Barts.
Sure Crystal Renn is a ‘plus-size’ model (we hate that term too) but seeing photos of models with naturally round tummies, breasts that aren’t perky and imperfect red skin (we’re still debating if this one is actually sunburn) is refreshing when compared to ones like a heavily airbrushed Demi Moore, which you can see HERE.

Folds of skin along Kroes' side have been smoothed out (1), along with veins in the crook of her arm (2) and the area around her armpit (3). Shadows have been deleted from her abs, making them look less toned (4). The nude underwear is gone (5).

that’s not a big surprise i think, women on this photo are ordinary, natural, beautiful women

how can people think that, someone can look so flawless as victoria secret models do on photos?
all we see on photos of celebrities is, UNREAL BEAUTY… photoshop and make up magic made this world crazy…standards of beauty are getting higher and higher, when in reality no one is flawless

Are you KIDDING me?

Victoria’s Secret need to quit the swimsuit business and get into Instagram filters.
Could you imagine all the hipsters saying “wow, it removed my frown lines”, “my bike now only has one gear”, “dude, your mustache doesn’t even need trimming now”.

These models are flawless already, most of the retouching consists of taking the odd wrinkle out of clothing and upping the saturation and contrast of the shots. if the idea of this was, “See at how much they’ve been photoshopped, no one can look that good in real life!” um, no. They do look that good. It’s their job and that’s ok. No need to take some vicious pleasure in the fact that they lightened a line under her eye.
There seems to be this mantra to women that says, “beautiful celebrities and models should make you feel like crap, you’ll never look like that, so here’s a photo of them with a bad hair day, feel better now?!” Models being attractive is just that, not a commentary on what YOUR appearance. Articles like this reinforce the lie that our value is only as deep as what we look like. When will be able to look at attractive people and appreciate it without thinking that it takes something away from us? They look good, you have your own special attributes. Take your self confidence from that.

Just shows how rank the photographers are these days that they need to fix the basics like lighting and exposure in post production. Sadly the introduction of photoshops has made anyone with a DSLR thing they are a photographer.

Doutzen Kroes has such a phenomenal body that she doesn’t need ANY airbrushing at all…. I do like the lighting changes though, makes me much more interested in the product truthfully

I find it interesting that there is criticism here of the minimal airbrushing that’s on the model identified as Kroe in the swimsuit shots, and yet when there was extensive airbrushing carried out on Lauren Hutton on the Women’s Weekly cover it was defended. Really, the examples pointed out on Kroe are very superficial. Some of the other airbrushing photos demonstrate its use in negative ways.

In their live fashion shows their bodies are flawless, and you can’t airbrush live moving models…can you?!

Yes, I saw an ad for their show on Foxtel recently and their bodies were unbelievable. They looked like trotting horses – all long legs. Justin Bieber was prancing around with one of the models and it looked terribly inappropriate and rather icky!

No but you can provide them with the most glamourous outfits that suck in and hold up everything and perfect lighting. I’m sure those girls look great without it but it certainly helps. How many time have I looked in the mirror in my bathers and thought hmm ok until I’m under the harsh overhead lighting of the sun, then every bump and ripple becomes apparent. Wouldn’t life be nice with perfect dim lighting lol

From what i could see, most of the outfits consisted of micro knickers and push up bras. Not a lot of fabric to hide behind and lighting can only hide so much. Lets face it, these women are freaks of nature, and that is the problem! The average woman is sent the message that we are supposed to aspire to look like these women, when the reality is these models are the freaks!!

We are all freaks in some way or another. I think they are as beautiful as anyone, and no one’s beauty should undermine anyone else’s beauty. There are a lot of different types of beauty, this is just a commonly accepted image of beauty in the media. It’s your choice whether YOU choose to accept IT, or YOURSELF as beautiful.. or both if you are secure enough with yourself.

I’m pretty sure they follow a regimented diet and exercise program prior to those shows. T below is right – they’re not wearing enough to hold anything in! Hats off to them – their bodies are their jobs and if they are that disciplined in getting into that shape, they deserve all the tiny outfits in the world.

Oh My God. This is happening.
My body is just as good, if not BETTER, than a Victoria Secrets model?!
I think I’m having a heart attack… in a good way

I’m the only women who really can not give a rats if the photo has been airbrushed or not
loading...
Not the only one. I just look at those pictures and go ‘oh look, chick in a bikini’ not ‘I wish my legs/boobs/tummy looked like that’.
And yes, I TOTALLY appreciate that other people will see that when they look at a picture, and that it can effect self esteem. But it doesn’t happen to everyone
