Apparently ‘avoiding becoming Youtube sensation’ is now a legitimate reason not to step in when someone needs help.
Or something, as in the sad case of this poisoned squirrel:
He really, really, really wanted to help you guys. But when he weighed all the options, the risk of ending up on Youtube was not worth a helpless little squirrel’s life.
RIP little squirrel. RIP.
But seriously, is the fear of becoming an accidental viral sensation really worth bothering the police over?

I work in 000 and have people ring because they have no credit on their phones and need to reach their friend because (e.g.) their car has broken down (not in some remote location where they're in danger - I'd be ok with that! I'm talking in a suburban area where they could walk to a phone box or seek help from a local resident).
I always want to reach down the phone and flick these ones in the forehead.
Seriously, why do people think 000 is an alternative to having credit!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
You'd be surprised what people call emergency services for. My old room mates were both paramedics and one of them told me a bloke called because his back was really really itchy and he didn't know what to do....
