Nothing, not even an enormous fence, will stop this loved-up male elephant.

It’s a classic love story, really.

Boy meets girl. Boy and girl get put in neighbouring zoos. Boy breaks through physical barrier to bang girl and then gets sent home with fireworks. Boy and girl are elephants.

Okay, maybe it’s not a classic story. But it’s a bloody good one.

A man elephant, who resides in the Chandka Elephant Sanctuary in India, developed a crush from a distance on a lady elephant, who lives at the neighbouring Nandankanan Zoological Park. He eyed her through a fence, and his heart swelled to the size of… well, an elephant’s.

(This is not actually our leading elephant couple, but a different set of loved-up jumbos.)

He BROKE THROUGH BARRIERS to escape his zoo and jump into hers, just to be with her. Cue the romantic music and the slow-mo embrace. And what did he do when he finally met the love of his life?

He nailed her.

That’s right, the elephants had some special cuddles while the zoo keepers frantically closed the zoos with safety concerns. Apparently, when a male elephant gets a bit trunky (well, they can’t be ‘toey’, they don’t have toes…), they can get really aggressive and pose a threat to other animals.

But not this guy. He did the deed, hopefully spent some time spooning his lovely lumpy lady, and then was forced back into his habitat by fireworks released by the keepers to scare him in the right direction.

The bang after the bang.

It’s a beautiful story. Love, sex, and fireworks.

Let’s just hope he calls her or at least texts before three days are up.

(Don’t worry – all reports suggest that the man-ephant and the lady-ephant are only a fence apart, and can still see each other. They are probably writing love notes with their trunks as we speak. Elephantastic.)
