1. Man charged with abducting teenage girl in Bendigo.

Police have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection to the suspected kidnapping of a teenage girl in central Victoria this week, ABC News reports.

Victorian police yesterday located the 18-year-old girl, who is now believed to have been held captive for more than 24 hours.

ABC News reports the woman, who cannot be identified, was found in a car in Maiden Gully late yesterday afternoon,

The girl was reported missing earlier this week, after she went missing while running in One Tree Regional Park in Bendigo.

2. Eight-year-old boy saves his mother by calling 000.

When eight-year-old Bailey Wrigley found he couldn’t wake his mother one day, he sprung into action.

His mother, Andrea, had gone to bed earlier that day because she was feeling sick — and when Bailey couldn’t wake her later that day, he called Triple Zero.

“My mummy is falling sick,” he told the emergency operator.

“I’m trying to wake her up, she keeps opening her eyes but she doesn’t wake up.”

According to Channel Nine, Bailey followed the operator’s instructions for 20 minutes, detailing his mother’s symptoms and counting her breaths.

It was later revealed Ms Wrigley’s sinus infection had spread to her brain.

Paramedics have praised Bailey’s actions for saving his mother’s life.

3. New child abuse claims strike Victorian private school.

Two new sexual abuse claims have been filed against Melbourne’s prestigious Scotch College. These are the latest in a string of five historic child abuse lawsuits already settled by the school.

According to The Age, the school previously encouraged students who suffered child abuse at the school to come forward.

In a letter circulated to Scotch College alumni, the school stated it would continue to investigate historic claims of child sexual abuse.

“It is not possible to imagine the suffering caused by those who betrayed the trust placed in them to care for boys at their most vulnerable,” Scotch principal Tom Batty said in the letter.

“In reaching out to old boys and dealing with their concerns, the school believes it is being transparent and supportive to those it failed, while being respectful of the widespread desire amongst old boys for privacy.”

4. Woman accused of robbing a wheelchair-using man in a Melbourne casino.

Police have released the image of a woman believed to have robbed a man in a wheelchair.

The man had been gambling at Melbourne’s Crown Casino on May 7, and was gearing up to leave when a woman offered to help push his wheelchair.

According to Victoria Police, the woman allegedly reached into the man’s left inner jacket pocket. He was unable to fend her off before she stole his wallet.

The woman took cash and credit cards, and fled the scene.

The female is perceived as being Caucasian about five foot seven inches tall with brown hair and wearing jeans.

5. Former Australian Idol reportedly used ice before arrest.

Former Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo has told a court she “smoked and ate” the drug crystal methamphetamine, or ice, before being arrested for driving under the influence earlier this year.

DeAraugo, 29, was arrested in Sydney’s Surry Hills in March.

News Corp reports the singer was convicted for her driving offence and charged $330.

DeAraugo won Australian Idol in 2005.
