BREAKING: Cadbury Australia Respond to Creme Egg-gate

UPDATE: Cadbury Australia have confirmed, repeat, CONFIRMED that the Australian Creme Egg will not be sold in the reduced pack of five on our shores.

Instead, our eggs will come in a half dozen…and… AN 8-PACK.

HAHAHAHA “GREAT” BRITAIN! WHOSE GREAT NOW? SURE YOU BEAT US IN THE OLYMPICS AND YEAH SURE YOU WON ALL THE GOLD MEDALS BUT WHO HAS ALL THE EGGS NOW HUH? YOU CAN’T EAT THOSE GOLD MEDALS. OH AND YOU HAVE A PRINCESS? WELL WE HAVE LARA BINGLE AND NOW THE EGG IS ON YOUR FACE. ACTUALLY IT’S ON OURS AS WE EAT ALL THE DELICIOUS EGGS.

We got excited and added those green ticks. The packet does not look like that. But if Cadbury Australia wish to use this idea in their packaging they are welcome to it.

It is also reportedly being sold as a 312g JAR of Creme eggs. Details are sparse but we imagine it to be some sort of hipster jar with eggs that people can pin on their Pintrest and gram on their insty.

Cornering the hipster market

Yesterday Mamamia reported the following… *Warning..swear jar.

Outraged chocolate lovers have taken to social media after Cadbury UK reduced the number of Creme Eggs sold in their boxes from 6 to 5.

Eggstraordinary scenes

Twitter and Facebook were flooded with emotional messages as Britons came to grips with the shocking news.

Many resisted the urge to use an egg pun in favor of pure, unadulterated outrage:

Emotions run high on twitter

Disbelief.

Gary forgave you for the Curly Wurly’s. And now this.

The cult egg, which has a following of 2.7 million fans on Facebook, has a thick milk chocolate shell which houses a white and yellow fondant filling, mimicking the runny albumen and yolk of a real egg. It’s the best.

Unlike real eggs, pregnant women are fine to eat the treat.

Shellshocked fans have flooded the company’s Facebook page with pleas to re-instate the 6th egg:

And in images that may disturb, some are suggesting the eggs be shoved in places other than the mouth.

Shove them. Not in your mouth.

Previously, the chocolate giant has limited supply to the egg, with a limited season that runs from January to April, whipping followers into bulk buying frenzies and inspiring recipes to make the most of the season.

At this stage, the reported egg-downsizing has been contained to the UK.

You’re not the only one crying, buddy.
