Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff dated for over five years. She, the creator and star of Girls, and he, an indie-rock band frontman.
It was a match made in millennial heaven that started with a blind date in 2012. They even had a dog together.
But alas, the dream is over, because the pair are done, as reps for both of them have confirmed to PEOPLE.
Sure, it might seem out of the blue. But for anyone in a long-term relationship who’s asked themselves, where is this going? only to find out the answer is, well, nowhere, you’ll be able to sympathise.
Why? Because in November, Dunham thought the relationship was heading in the complete opposite direction.
In a series of tweets, Dunham told the bleak story of how she thought Antonoff was going to propose to her, but didn’t. Not even a little bit.
I thought jack was furtively planning a proposal ???? to me with his sister and he just admitted I actually caught him “talking shit” about me!

Does anyone really care so much that you had to dredge up tweets from last year to scrounge up an article about this *shock horror* relationship breakup?
Maybe he got fed up with her well-documented problem with the truth. I'll avoid the most inflammatory and appalling example, and simply cite the fact she lied about the rescue dog she dumped being a victim of abuse, (a dog shelter employee spoke on the record to refute her lies). And that time she claimed she overheard two airline employees making transphobic remarks. An investigation proved she'd made the whole thing up, as CCTV video showed no staff at the time and place she claimed this happened.
