It’s not very often you see footage of 20-year-old androgynous model Andrej Pejic talking and not walking. And that’s why we’re were fascinated by this video with NY Mag’s The Cut.
This is one of the few video interviews we’ve seen with Australian model, and in it he talks about working at McDonalds, working the runway, foods he loathes and being crowned Prom King AND Prom Queen at high school.
Take a look.

Andrej Pejic is a 19-year-old high fashion model from Melbourne who has gained international fame for modelling both men's and women's clothes.

Stunning, stunning, stunning. Perhaps more so when he’s not taking… but I am a HUGE fan.

Andrej has been around for years. I’m sure that I’ve seen something about him on 60 Minutes, and I haven’t watched an episode of that for at least eight years. Or was it in an issue of Who ? Haven’t looked at that for a good while, either.
Is he really only 19 or is it a case of once you’ve reached a certain age you start subtracting a year when your brthday comes around.

20, turning 21 in August

Least favourite food: “Anything that would increase my size.”
I like him less after this interview unfortunately :/ .

It doesn’t seem very likable to say something like that, but he’s a model. That’s his job. Prefering it over models who claim they eat all the time and anything they want.

Could he be any more beautiful?

I’m so jeal, why don’t I look like that….but with a female body!

Since when does Australia have prom king and queens at formals??? Sounds so try hard-ish…

Wow how fascinating, I had no idea he’d be like that. I love him even more now.

Ha I love it! It makes Zoolander look tame!

He basically asked him “Do you ever feel you get pigeonholed into being versatile?” Lol!

He has such a beautiful face, it’s just so intriguing! However a little concerned by the comment about his least favourite food = “anything that will make my size bigger”.

I think Andrej’s popularity has far less to do with a blurring of the gender lines (which is what always seems to come up when he is discussed) and everything to do with him having what designers of women’s clothing seem to think is the perfect body: a pretty face, no boobs, no hips and a completely flat stomach.

Yeah – pretty sad when you think about it. That’s the ideal woman’s body for a designer. In an interview Alex perry once said other designers think boobs aNd hips are “Vulgar”

It’s so strange that designers ideal body type is essentially an effeminate male or ‘boyish’ female. Seeing as they’re supposed to be designing women’s fashion logically the clothes should be designed to fit the female form. I wonder where this ideology stems from. It makes no sense.

If the media had a bit more sensitivity and understanding about how to write about and interview androgynous and genderqueer and trans* people, I think Andrej really could make an impact. Unfortunately, most of the mainstream media is going for the usual angle of invasive questioning.

Well………..
I’m leaving that completely alone …….

LOL!
