Is this the only celebrity taboo left?

View co-host Sherri Sheperd

There are few things we DON’T know about celebrities in this current climate of celebrity obsession and the proliferation of gossip magazines. Celebrities routinely sell bite-sized chunks of their lives, sharing their pregnancies, births, break-ups, diet secrets, plastic surgery confessions, even details of their sex lives and sexuality.
For example, I know that Posh sleeps in the nude. Why do I know that? Because she told a journalist.

But the one area that no-one ever talks about? Abortions. It would be fair to assume that there are many famous women who have terminated pregnancies but I can’t remember anyone ever speaking about it publicly. Obviously, it’s an intensly private thing that women (famous and not) prefer to keep to themselves.
Until now.

Sherri Shepherd is a regular co-host on The View. In a recent interview with US black Christian magazine Precious Times, she has been remarkably candid……

In the interview, she reveals that her life was once so rough she didn’t care if she died.

According to US Weekly:

“My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses,” Shepherd, 41, says.

At the time, the stand-up comic — then a Jehovah’s Witness – was “in
a very physically abusive relationship,” she said. “I was sleeping with
a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count.”

She said her self-esteem became so low, “I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn’t even make a difference.”

But after converting to Christianity, she said, “God showed me that it would make a difference.”

(Shepherd has also said she relied on her faith to get through her split with husband Jeff Tarpley, father of their 3-year-old son. During their seven-year marriage, Tarpley cheated on her and got another woman pregnant.)

She’s now extremely religious – a total born-again – and often takes on the other members of the View over subjects like homosexuality which she believes is wrong……
