Serena Williams – she’s not just a tennis star.

She’s tried her hand at fashion design, was made a spokeswoman and became part-owner of the Miami Dolphins. But if that wasn’t enough success for the American champion, she’s decided to take a shot at rap stardom.

Yes, you read that correctly. Serena Williams has recorded a rap song.

She has always been a fan of music style but is now channeling that passion and turning it into her latest venture. Having developed a reputation for abusing line judges, posing nude in magazines and dating music stars, Serena’s edge, confidence and swagger make the idea of her conquering the rap industry seem quite plausible.

Often when celebrities attempt to bust out of their natural talent comfort zone and break into a new industry, they fail – epically. However, some are saying Serena’s attempt isn’t bad at all! You can judge that for yourself.

Williams began recording in the studio last year. While slightly over-done with cheesy tennis metaphors, the lyrics to her song that has been leaked over the Internet reflect her personality – self-assured and sassy.

Here’s a snippet from her sample track…

“I can see these haters through my Gucci glasses, I make hits like backing practice…” Serena raps. “I make a lot of money but it ain’t your business. I put the track up like a frozen pizza. Beats so crazy it might blow your speakers,”

Californian MC, The Game, reportedly told TMZ that Williams was a “really talented artist” with “raw skills”.

Game, set, rap.

In short, it’s awful. But is she sampling a Speak ‘n’ Spell in this? That was one of my favourite toys as a kid!
