She must be so happy to be finally enjoying those wonderful newborn cuddles
I am a very petite 5″4 and 47kgs pre pregnancy and my beautiful daughter was 9.5lbs and she was a wonderful drugfree waterbirth baby, much easier to birth than my 8lb son by far!

A Maxi baby for a maxi pregnancy. That kid will get called all sorts of names for sure.
Sigh of relief that Jessica has finally had her though.

Congrats to Jessica & Eric and what a joy for all families.
C section or Vajayjay. All that matters is that a beautiful much wanted and loved little girl is here to be loved by all that wished so very much for her to be a part of there lives.
Our babies were 9lb9oz and 9lbs 2ozs they were drug free births and two years on my body is destroyed.
I wouldn’t have it any other way. Heathy babies are all that matters not how they got here

I recently met a young Asian girl. Nothing new there !
She told me that most Aussies couldn’t pronounce her Vietnamese name, so she chose an anglo name for herself that sounded strong and easy to pronounce.
I had to ask why she chose the name “Wayne” ? She was quite astounded to learn that Wayne is a name more closely associated with males than females. Pleased as punch to learn that is possibly the only woman in the world called Wayne.

Only one baby? I thought she had a whole litter in there.

To all those defending her right to call her daughter a boys name, would you be okay if she had a boy next, and named him Sarah, or Emily, or Isabella?
And if not, why?
Why is it “spunky” and “strong” to give your daughter a male name? And why is the situation in reverse such a no-no?
loading...
Who knows. It’s the same with clothes, it’s ok to put a girl in shorts or long pants but you’re going to get funny looks if you put a boy in a dress.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a burning desire to have a son called Tiffany or Melissa, it’s just interesting. Especially when people name their daughter (insert male name here) because it’s “strong”. Why? Why is it strong? A name does not a person make. Your daughter called Benjamin could easily turn out to be a shy little girl, scared of her own shadow. Just because she has a “strong name” doesn’t make her a strong person.
And it sort of implies that to be strong, she has to have a male name. I dunno about you, but I have met plenty of strong capable women with female names.

The situation in reverse IS a big no-no – boys with feminine names are more likely to turn into criminals (true).
I also dislike boys’ names being used for girls.

Oh, from the comments I can see into the future…..you are a mother-in-law……I see you now…..you have pursed lips, the fingers on your right hand are tapping out a rhythm on the table in front of you….your head is turned to the side: “Well, I just don’t like it! But it’s your choice. If you think that is a suitable name for my granddaughter then so be it.”

Gosh Yes!!! I love boys name on girls and I have used one for my daughter and it suits her 100%. I don’t care about the prude face looks anybody gives me because she would never have suited a frilly girly name but if she was that sort of girl I probably would have made the name more feminine with a nickname. I actually don’t mind Maxwell but each to their own.

Oh phew!! That poor girl gestated like an elephant if you believe the tabloids. And what a belter of a size. Makes my eyes water!

Isn’t Maxwell a boys name? :-/ but i guess maxi can be
Feminine. And wow, 9 pound baby that’s huge! Hope the birth went well, I was a 9 pound baby myself and my poor mum had a very difficult birth (was a natural one)

I love the name! I wanted Maxwell (Max) for my 3 month old daughter but my husband wouldn’t have a bar of it. We ended up agreeing on Lucy though which we love.

i dont like the name but wish her all the happiness and health in her new role as a mum

That copy of In Touch has been on magazine stands for a fortnight, it’s actually off shelves as of 30th April. The whole article suggests that Jessica had her baby, that she struggled to choose what kind of birth, without actually saying exactly what happened because *it hadn’t happened yet*.

I alway think of Maxwell Smart when I hear the name Maxwell.
loading...
Me too!! Haha I get the “Get Smart” theme song in my head!

Well congrats to the both of them! Who cares if she pushed or had a caesarean? Who cares if you think its a boys name? The important thing is the safe arrival of a new little baby… and that it’s FINALLY happened!
loading...
Did she push or was it a c section?
loading...
Why does it matter?
loading...
I’d still be interested to know, though.

I cannot IMAGINE pushing out a 9lb 13 oz baby. That’s just about big enough to start school.

My vajootz hurts at the thought!
Im trying to get pregnant and 9 pounders run in my family. One bub even weighed in at 10″2. Holy Moly!
loading...
I was 10lb 11!! My baby girl is currently measuring 34 wks at 32 actual so I’m getting nervous!
loading...
My grandfather was 12lb 6! I’m praying that when I have a baby one day it’s nowhere near that size…
loading...
Doesn’t matter at all! Just interested to see how a 9 lb natural birth would go, that’s a big bubba!
loading...
my firstborn was just over 9 pound, and just a tad tough to say the least,. and at 21 years old a little bit scary.i had hemorrhoids for months after…
loading...
My babies were 9 lb 6oz and 9lb 5oz and they do come out!! I had to have an episiotomy with the first and a couple of stitches.
I do love a big healthy baby!!

I hada 4.1kg (9lb 1oz) baby 10 days ago. Thanks to Calmbirth and a great midwife I had a great experience, I didn’t tear and felt fine within a week . Size is a factor, but not everything. Being calm and relaxed and letting your body do its job are important too.
loading...
My 2nd child was 9lb 4oz and nigh on my easiest natural birth – it was all about her presenting properly. My first at 8lb 6oz was heaps worse!!
loading...
I know two people who had 5 kg, all natural, drug free births – it happens, people!

I pushed out a baby that size. Without pain relief. In 3 hours. It hurt. But, it didn’t hurt anymore than pushing out my 7.5lb baby and in many ways it was an easier birth.
loading...
Buster was 9lb11 with a 38cm head, natural birth and no stitches. Compared to his older sister who at 7lb13, 36 cm head caused a whole lot of internal stitch work I’d choose his birth any day of the week.

As a woman with what is generally regarded as a male name (Peta/Pete) I think Maxwell for a girl’s name is actually pretty ace.
loading...
As a woman with a daughter called Cameron, I agree!
loading...
I have one too and and my daughter is such a gorgeous Cameron! congrats on choosing an fantastic name.
loading...
I have a daughter called Jett.
loading...
I have a daughter named Reese…each to their own I say!
loading...
I was going to choose Reese but my husband preferred Cameron. That is a lovely name for a girl.
loading...
They are going to call her Maxi for short (which reminds me of a maxi pad).
loading...
I don’t get when people do this.. If they want to call her Maxi, name her Maxi
loading...
I once saw a suggestion in a baby name book which said to put the full name on the birth certificate even if you intend to call the baby by a nickname. It gives the child an opportunity to choose when he/ she is an adult whether to use the full name or nickname.
loading...
Exactly!
If my child ends up becoming the PM, a doctor, or just someone who wants to use a full name rather than a ‘nickname’, I want to have given them that choice.
loading...
True.. Makes sense!!

Thank goodnes – longest pregnancy in celebrity history!! LOL Now I guess we will be treated to a ‘look how quickly I got my body back’ saga.

Maxwell Drew ???
??????????????
She really wanted a boy ? Right ?
Johnny Cash had a hit with “A Boy Named Sue”. Jessica hasn’t had a hit for some time. Sorry, I just can’t get my head around a girl named Maxwell.

oh shoosh, would Aurora Amethyst Sparkle Unicorn be better? gah
I think it’s spunky

I really want to meet Aurora Amethyst Sparkle Unicorn now…

Maxwell for a girl, hmmm not great! But yah she had her baby girl!
loading...
Great news!
No wonder the poor girl’s belly was so big, she was carrying a big baby in that tiny body of hers!
I am from the ‘each to their own’ group regarding names people use. If she thinks that’s the perfect name for her daughter, who am I to judge?
loading...
I think Maxwell is a nice name, for a boy or for a girl.
loading...
Oh look, another baby girl who will have to flash her boobs to prove she’s a girl.
They should have just called her Bruce.
loading...
What does that even mean?!
loading...
Jeez what happens if she dresses her in blue!!??!! nobody will know what to think, thank god for those LOVELY pink bows that people put in their babies hair so people like you can tell whether children are boys or girls.
loading...
awesome, so happy to hear she has a healthy baby girl. Cute name too.
