Sometimes the best love stories start in the most unexpected ways. Just ask Miles Teller, who recently revealed at The Gorge premiere that his now-wife Keleigh Sperry Teller initially turned him down not once… but three times in one night. Yikes.

While the general rule of thumb is to take rejection at face value… in this case, it seems to have worked out for the couple, given they've now been together for 12 years.

How did Miles Teller and Keleigh Sperry meet?

"When I first met her, she turned me down like three times in one night," Miles admitted to ENews. "I would say the fact I kept coming back and trying to swoon her, I'll give myself a pat on the back for that."

"I got lucky the valet line was very long," he continued. "She was leaving, and I had no idea how to contact her or anything."

The year was 2013, and they had been at a Black Keys after party. Despite the initial rejections, Miles's persistence paid off — they went on their first date a week later, and the Top Gun: Maverick star knew immediately she was special.

After four years of dating, Miles planned an elaborate proposal during a South African safari in 2017. The romantic setup included vintage touches, champagne, and roses — creating the perfect moment for him to get down on one knee.

The couple chose to tie the knot in a romantic ceremony in Maui in September 2019, followed by a celebration at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Hotel. Keleigh wore a custom Monique Lhuillier gown for their special day.

The couple has become known for sharing glimpses of their relationship on social media, with Keleigh often posting behind-the-scenes moments from their life together.

In 2022, they made headlines when they appeared in Taylor Swift's 'I Bet You Think About Me' music video, where Miles played Swift's ex-boyfriend who can't stop thinking about her on his wedding day.

But Miles and Keleigh's picture-perfect love story hasn't been without its challenges.

When the devastating LA fires forced them to evacuate their home in early 2025, it wasn't the expensive furniture or priceless art that Keleigh wished she was able to save — it was her wedding dress. That white Monique Lhuillier gown, the one she wore when she promised forever to Miles, meant more than any other possession.

"If you're in the LA area PLEASE get out if you can. I wish I grabbed my wedding dress... wish I did a lot different but it doesn't matter, stay safe, get out. There are no words," she wrote in her post on social media. "THANK YOU to the first responders fighting."

Speaking about the aftermath of the fires and their impact on their relationship, Teller expressed the immense grief he was feeling as a result of losing so much.

"When everything goes, and you have each other, it's very emotional," Miles told ENews. "You lose your home, you're part of a club nobody wants to be a part of. We know it's not an immediate sense of relief. And so, we're just there for one another."

While Miles and Keleigh do not have children just yet, they are the proud dog parents of a sweet French Bulldog called 'Bugsy', and it's safe to say that he's as cute as a bug's whisker!
