It’s the second time a fellow prisoner has attacked Cowan at the centre, where he’s serving a life sentence for abducting and murdering 13-year-old Daniel on the Sunshine Coast in 2003.

In August 2016, a fellow prisoner tipped a bucket of boiling water on him.

Friday’s attack on Cowan has been referred to the Queensland Police Corrective Services Investigation Unit.
