Cassie Sainsbury has shared that she and her fiancé Scott broke up.

Convicted drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury has shared that she and her fiancé Scott Broadbridge have broken up.

The 23-year-old is currently serving six years in jail for attempting to smuggle almost 6kg of cocaine out of Colombia’s Bogota airport in April 2017.

During a phone interview with KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on Friday morning, the South Australian woman said she ended the “doomed” relationship in February.

A phone conversation the pair had during a Sunday Night special in May last year exposed the strain the saga was putting on their relationship. Post continues.

“For quite some time things weren’t good between us …from the moment I got in here the relationship was doomed,” she told the radio hosts.

“With time… I needed to start thinking about myself and what I needed for myself and my future.

“I broke up with Scott because I thought it was the best thing for me, and the best thing for his future as well.”

When Jackie O asked if Scott had still been a support for her, Sainsbury said she and her former boyfriend “haven’t spoken since.”

Sainsbury also spoke about her living conditions in El Buen Pastor prison (“it’s not fabulous”), the violence she’s avoiding (“I keep my distance from the people I know are trying to make trouble”) and how much she would have been paid for the trafficking (“$4000”).

And she shared a warning with young Australians travellers.

“Really, really analyse the people you think you can trust. You might think you can trust them but they can be a completely different person.”
