This story is, quite literally, about Australian DJ Flume eating a butt on stage at Burning Man. It’s not a euphemism. So if you’re not into seeing footage of… it, pls stop scrolling. Now.

Shhh.

Settle down.

Sit.

We need to have a conversation.

You may have heard of a young man named Flume. Of course, his real name isn't Flume. It's Harley Edward Streten. He's a 27-year-old Aussie DJ and producer, and has won all the awards for his music.

You might recognise his wholesome image from that year he literally won everything at the ARIAs.

'I would never eat a butt.' Image via Getty.

Well.

Yesterday, Flume started trending.

'Maybe he's released a new song?' some thought. 'Maybe he's doing an exciting collaboration?'

Both of these things may be true. But right now, neither of them matter.

Because Flume was trending because he ate a butt on stage at Burning Man.

He did WHAT.

For context (there might never be enough context), Burning Man is a week-long festival held in Nevada, which takes its name from the literal and metaphorical burning of 'the man' (a wooden one, in the literal sense).

The event is based on ten core principles, which include radical self-expression, radical self-reliance, participation and leave no trace.

There's no running water or power grid, and a typical attendee will see plenty of nudity and lots of drugs. In previous years there's been reports of a 'playful, sensual spanking experience,' a woman who pumped breast milk for people to put in their coffee, and 'slutty mini golf', where 'the biggest slut' wins.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Essentially, the festival is known as "an experiment in community and art," and weird stuff happens.

Weird stuff like an Aussie DJ eating a butt on stage.

Watch: Samantha X on how to have better sex. Post continues after video.

From what we can piece together, Flume was performing a set at the festival when he saw a sign that read: Does Flume even eat ass?

In response, he just... did.

The DJ's girlfriend, actor Paige Elkington, posted an Instagram story of Flume 'eating' a butt which is widely believed to be hers. She quickly removed it, probably after realising she had just shared a video of a high-profile musician performing a sex act to her almost 100,000 followers, but it wastoo late.

It was already trending. It had instantly been saved and uploaded over and over again. You can watch it here if you so wish.

I watched it and now I feel weird in my... soul.

Butguys. The internetdone lost it.BECAUSE SINCE WHEN DOES A FAMOUS PERSON EAT SOMEONE'S BUTT IN PUBLIC.

so when Flume eats ass on stage it's cool but when I do I'm asked to leave the Petersham Bowling Club???

flume really ate his girl's ass on stage at burning man, which means they were in the desert with nothin but wet wipe showers, porta potty bathrooms, and 100° heat to marinate in... pic.twitter.com/fIgEcjnOFE

So, Flume eating ass during his set at Burning Man is “artsy” and “iconic,” but GG Allin shitting in his hand on stage and flinging it into the crowd is considered “vile” and “too far.”

There's a point in all of our lives where we must ask ourselves 'do we want to watch the video where Flume eats ass or just trust it is what it says.'

Important stories have been published around the internet on such topics as:

Whose butt did Flume eat? (Likely Paige Elkington's).

How did people at the festival react to the... incident? (Many are defending him and hoping it doesn't impact his career).

Is eating a butt even that controversial for Burning Man? (Not really).

So. You may resume your day, safe in the knowledge that yes, an Aussie DJ did eat a butt at a music festival and all of us are looking deep inside ourselves to work out how we feel.
