There were a few screen grabs from the royal wedding that took on a life of their own when they fell into the internet’s hands, but perhaps none more than a still ofSuitsstar Rick Hoffman.

As Hoffman sat deep in the pews of St George’s Chapel at the wedding of his friend and former co-star Meghan Markle, the camera panned to his face as he appeared to be having the world’s worst time. He very quickly became his own meme, because of course he did when hisSuitscharacter’s last name is Litt.

Now, in a video posted to Instagram, Hoffman explained exactly what was going on in that moment.

“So to answer any questions about the weird face that was made at the wedding, imagine sitting next to people to your right — not knowing which person it was — that has halitosis,” he said.

“Um. Hence the face. That is apparently all over the place. So it’s as simple as that, Charlie. Love you guys. Yah. Halitosis. Disgusting.”
