All the best new TV shows dropping on Netflix this month.

People who say that watching endless hours of TV is not the best thing in the whole wide world have just not found the right Netflix show.

But all that is about to change.

This month, Netflix is rolling out a whole bunch of new programs along with bringing back some old favourites.

Whether you’re looking for a larger than life sci-fi tale, a captivating murder mystery or a simply delicious cooking show, there’s sure to be a series here that will tickle your fancy and keep you glued to the screen.

All the best new and returning shows coming to Netflix in April

Black Lightning: Season One  – Weekly episodes from Tuesday April 3. 

High school principal Jefferson Pierce – who retired from his superhero persona Black Lightning nine years ago after seeing the effects it had on his family – is forced to become a vigilante again when the rise of the local gang called ‘The 100’ leads to increased crime and corruption in his community of Freeland.

Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments: Season 3 – Wednesday April 4. 
Based on the best-selling book series, Shadowhunters kicks off when the life of typical teen Clary Fray is upended when she learns that she’s part of a race of demon-hunting humans who have the blood of angels.

Chef’s Table: Pastry – Friday 13 April. 

In this Emmy-nominated documentary series you will meet culinary stars around the world who are redefining gourmet food with innovative dishes and tantalizing desserts. Each episode of the series profiles a single world-renowned chef. Creator David Gelb considers it a follow-up to his critically acclaimed documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

Z Nation: Season 3 –Thursday April 5.

A team embarks on a perilous cross-country mission to transport the one man who survived a deadly zombie virus, hoping he holds the key to a vaccine.

Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 – Friday April 6.

Searching for the woman promised to him by Aphrodie, herdsman Paris learns his true identity and falls for Helen of Sparta, igniting the Trojan War.

Broadchurch: Season 3 - Sunday April 22.
The death of a young boy sparks a complex murder investigation that puts an entire town, its residents and its secrets under a national spotlight.

The Originals: Season 4 - Thursday 12 April.

The Mikaelsons, the original vampire family, move to New Orleans and form an alliance with local witches in an effort to rule the city once again in this Vampire Diaries spinoff.

Lost In Space: Season 1 - Friday 13 April

Lost in Space is a Netflix Original dramatic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series.

Set 30 years in the future, colonisation in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home, they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination.

Happy!: Season 1 - Thursday 26 April.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Nick Sax is a corrupt, intoxicated, ex-cop turned hit man who is adrift in a twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, and betrayal. After a hit goes wrong, Nick finds a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous killer on the loose.

 3%: Season 2 - Friday 7 April.

3% is a Brazilian dystopian thriller series. The show is set in a future wherein people are given a chance to go to the "better side" of a world divided between progress and affluence in the Offshore, and devastation and poverty in the Inland, but only 3% of the candidates succeed.

The Chalet: Season 1 - Tuesday April 17. 

Friends gathered at a remote chalet in the French Alps for a summer getaway are caught in a deadly trap as a dark secret from their past comes to light.

Superstition: Season 1 - Sunday April 29

A family of morticians with supernatural connections provides "afterlife care" for clients who've suffered unworldly deaths.
