A celebrity guest list and gifts wrapped in blue: Everything we know about Meghan Markle's baby shower.

Meghan Markle has just had a baby shower in New York, and naturally, we want to know all the things.

The event is said to have broken royal protocol, given that according to royal etiquette expert, Victoria Arbiter, baby showers are frowned upon by the royal family.

Speaking to People, Arbiter said this is because royals, including and Meghan and Harry, can afford everything their baby needs, and baby showers, in the traditional sense, are about showering the expectant mother with baby items.

Nonetheless – Meghan has flown home to New York to celebrate with friends, a trip that took the public by surprise but has apparently been in the works for months.

Speaking of babies, have you checked out our first date with host of the new podcast “The Baby Bubble”? Post continues after video.

Details of the supposed shower have been kept very under wraps, but of course, bits and pieces have started slipping through the cracks.

Here’s what we know

A big delivery was spotted arriving at the New York hotel where Meghan is staying, that appeared to be party favours.

A dozen luxury suitcases were dropped off at The Mark on Wednesday morning, according to Hello Magazine, said to be gifts for Meghan’s friends.

Harpist Erin Hill was also pictured arriving at the hotel with her instrument, so that appears to be the music sorted.

A large cotton candy machine was wheeled in too, and goodness we’re starting to really wish we were invited.

Tatler reported that Meghan was holding the do’ in the hotel’s penthouse suite which is spread over two floors and has views of Central Park.

It costs AUD $109,307 a night and features five bedrooms, four fireplaces, six bathrooms, and two powder rooms.

The celebrations reportedly kicked off with some flower arranging lessons, followed by a dessert buffet prepared by Michelin star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

As for the guest list, Meghan’s Suits co-star Abigail Spencer was the first to arrive.

Serena Williams was also there – and posted an Instagram snap from The Mark’s signature bathrooms.

It has been said she was actually hosting the event, and there are even reports she is footing the bill.

Amal Clooney was in attendance, along with Misha Nonoo, and Meghan’s best friend stylist Jessica Mulroney.

There were apparently only 15 guests, but all were photographed clutching lavish looking gifts as they stepped out of the snow and into the hotel foyer.

One detail the internet appears to be losing its collective mind over, is the fact not one but two guests arrived with presents wrapped in BLUE.

But then an opposing rumour suggests that all of the bouquets that arrived were light PINK.

So we’re basically back at….we have no idea what the gender is.

The other rumour that’s been sparked by the shower, is that Meghan’s dash back home to be surrounded by her American pals has shone a spotlight on the fact that she hasn’t made any friends since moving to the UK.

However this particular tid-bit could be debunked by the fact that it has now been leaked that Meghan is in fact throwing a second baby shower when she gets home.

Meghan is believed to be about 30 weeks into her pregnancy, with her baby due around April.

LISTEN: The reason there is gossip about Meghan Markle is because she is not allowed to speak for herself…

Of course, it wouldn’t be a royal engagement for the Duchess without her half-sister piping in.

Samantha Markle has told the Mail Online; “I understand all personal things aside, a baby shower is an exciting time – but you are on this continent Meghan and I would just really love her to contact my dad while she’s here.

“Life is short and you never know when you’re going to get that opportunity again so it would seem par for the course and I hope it happens,” she said.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry spent Meghan’s baby shower at the 42 Commando Royal Marines base in Bickleigh.

Decked out in his camouflage, Harry learned about the specialist teams who are at high readiness to be deployed around the world to deliver maritime security, support and training.

He also had the honour of saluting recruits and presenting them with their green berets, which symbolically mark the completion of their training.

Meghan has been in NYC for five days, and will fly back shortly to be reunited with her husband.
