Is it a co-incidence that Outloud merch dropped on the same calendar day as Meghan's jam and also April Fools' Day? (yes).

Was it deliberate that there was a typo in one of the designs? (no).

But while Meghan's jam may have no typos, it has already sold out, whereas we still have some stock left and are insisting that the typo (which we will fix in the next batch) makes this first run of misprinted tees, basically a collector's edition.

Mamamia Outloud official merchandise.

We have been planning to do merch for a while, but it wasn't until we landed on the idea of collaborating with independent Australian female small business brands to make our merch that it all clicked into place.

Who is the designer of the Mamamia Outloud official merch?

Our first collection (we so fancy, we have collections now, lol) is a collab with cult t-shirt designer, Maku, whose iconic tees we've all bought and wear constantly.

So we approached her to see if she'd be interested in helping us and discovered she was an Outlouder and had already bought tickets for the live show for her and her mum.

Which saved us having to explain what a pufferfish was.

And here is what Maku said about her inspiration:

"The pigeon was inspired by the idea of a carrier pigeon, but with a fun twist. It's carrying the phrase "I have thoughts" and, paired with the colourful designs and choice of colour, it's sort of like delivering news or delivering a message in a fun and interesting way that was the message behind the carrier pigeon.

"The crocodile, I was thinking it's a quintessential Australian animal. It's bold, it's snappy. You can't ignore it. Things that I felt represented the podcast well too. I've also incorporated the pufferfish and pineapple.

"As per Mia's suggestion, I don't know why, but I instantly, when I thought of the pufferfish, thought it needs to be a disco ball. It's shining. It's cool and colourful and kind of something. I guess I would want to see on a T-shirt."
