Katy Perry has announced she is pregnant with her first child.

On Thursday, Perry shared the video for her first piece of music in 2020, ‘Never Worn White’.Perry waited until the very end of the video to reveal that she and fiancé Orlando Bloom are expecting their first child this winter (their summer).

Despite the absence of a verbal confirmation in the music video itself, she uploaded an Instagram photo captioned, “Let’s just say it’s going to be a jam-packed summer”. During an Instagram Live shortly after, she officially broke the news.

Perry said, “There is a lot that will be happening this summer: we’re giving birth. Literally.

“We’re excited. It’s probably the longest secret we’ve had to keep. I wanted to tell you guys in the best way – through a piece of music.”

In her first interview since announcing the exciting news, Perry told SiriusXM radio host, Mike Piff, why she chose to share her news through her latest music video. While ‘Never Worn White’ isn’t the lead single in her yet-to-be-released record, the timing of the track was perfect.

“Honestly, I was getting way too fat to hide it, so I was like, ‘Well, I think this song would be a great reveal! Let’s start there’,” she laughed.

“And that’s how I communicate things — I communicate through music.”

The 35-year-old singer has joked on Twitter how difficult it was to hide her growing baby bump.

Perry also confirmed her pregnancy with Bloom was “no accident” and that they’re “both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this”.

The song, ‘Never Worn White’ is about Perry’s fear of commitment, despite being excited for her future with her partner. In case you forgot or didn’t know, Perry was previously married to Russell Brand in 2010 and divorced in 2012.

Discussing the lyrics and song title, Perry confirmed that she really hasn’t ever worn white, even during her first wedding.

She said, “This really is my first time wearing white. Because the first time, 10 years ago, I wore dove grey”.

Perry has been with fiancé Orlando Bloom for four years now.

They confirmed their relationship in May 2016 while they were both at the Cannes Film Festival. ThePirates of the Caribbeanactor proposed mid-helicopter ride on Valentine’s Day in 2019.

Bloom is already a father to nine-year-old Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr. As reported by Hollywood Life, t he former Victoria’s Secret model has shared her support of Perry’s pregnancy by ‘liking’ her Instagram post showing a clip of her music video.

This will be his and Perry’s first child together.
