Royalty and Hollywood collided when Prince William and Kate Middleton walked the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards in London.

The Duke of Cambridge, who is the president of BAFTA, looked very dapper in his simple black tuxedo, while the Duchess wore a white one-shoulder dress by Alexander McQueen.

While the Duchess appears to have an affinity for chiffon dresses with waist detailing, the one-shoulder look is particularly modern.

Fans quickly noticed that the look also featured a subtle nod to Princess Diana.

The Duchess' pearl and silver drop earrings were previously worn by her mother-in-law while accepting the United Celebral Palsy Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year Award in 1995.
