This winter, I had one goal: for my skin to be as slippery as a freshly caught seal.

I want to glisten. I want to shimmer. And I'm not talking about a little hydration. I'm talking about full-blown buttered-up, can't-hold-a-glass, someone-call-an-OH&S-officer levels of slipperiness.

I've broken up with moisturiser. Officially. Emotionally. Irreversibly. Because the humble body oil has entered the chat — and I'm never looking back.

Don't get me wrong, moisturiser has its place. It's cute. Reliable. A solid 7/10. But where moisturiser absorbs and disappears like a well-behaved skincare girlie, body oil lingers. It leaves you feeling dewy, hydrated, glossy and way too fabulous to answer emails right now (sorry, boss).

You don't apply body oil. You slather it. You drench yourself in it. You emerge from your bathroom looking like a freshly glazed doughnut — radiant, unbothered, and slippery enough to slide straight into a new personality. And honestly? You love it.

And if there's one body oil that's fully converted me to the slick life, it's this Pure Mama's Belly & Body Oil

Is it technically made for pregnant women? Yes. Am I pregnant? Absolutely not. Will that stop me from using this every single night until I am greased up like a rotisserie chicken? Not even a little bit.

This stuff is lush. It smells like your skin just booked a five-star holiday — all soft coconut, creamy almond and with just a hint of caramelised heaven. It's lightweight, absorbs beautifully and doesn't leave you sticky — just soft, radiant and ready to slide into bed (or into someone's arms) like a hydrated goddess.

There's organic almond oil for intense nourishment. Vitamin E to soften and smooth. Coconut and rosehip oils to keep the skin barrier happy and glowing. No parabens, no sulphates, no nasties. Just clean, dreamy hydration that somehow makes me feel like I've got my life together — even when I most definitely don't.

I rub it on straight after a shower when my skin's still damp (a hot tip that genuinely changes everything), and I wake up feeling silky. Not dry. Not flaky. But like I just got steam-cleaned by angels.

If you too are in your hydration era, here are a few more body oils to get your hands (and entire body) on.
