Sadly, but unsurprisingly, some men just didn’t really get it…

Silverman, 44, is renowned for tackling taboo topics in her comedy, and has previously been both acclaimed and dismissed for her “rape jokes”.

Sarah Silverman is infamous for her taboo jokes.

In her Emmy award-winning comedy special, Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles, she uses her comedy to highlight the lack of women reporting rape:

“We need more rape jokes. We really do. I love that some people applauded that,” she said.

“Needless to say, rape, the most heinous crime imaginable. Seems it’s a comic’s dream, though. Because it seems that when you do rape jokes, the material is so dangerous and edgy.

“But the truth is it’s like the safest area to talk about in comedy. Cause who’s going to complain about a rape joke? Rape victims? They don’t even report rape. I mean, they’re traditionally not complainers.”

Silverman won an Emmy for her TV show – in which she jokes about rape.

In her 2010 autobiography, Bedwetter, she explains:
