6 important health and beauty lessons we learned from Derek Zoolander.

Update: Zoolander 2 has finally been released, and to celebrate we’re reflecting on all the important wisdom we picked up from the first movie.

Last year we wrote: No, you’re not taking crazy pills: that is a real photo of Anna Wintour posing with Derek Zoolander and his arch rival Hansel at Paris Fashion Week 2015. It actually happened.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson made a guest appearance on the Valentino catwalk, reprising their charmingly vapid characters from the 2001 comedy Zoolander. Even after all these years, Derek’s Blue Steel is as piercing as ever and Hansel remains so hot right now.

The stunt was all part of a promotion for Zoolander 2, the long-awaited sequel. To celebrate, let’s revisit all the important lessons about beauty, health, and being really, really, ridiculously good-looking we learned the first time around:

1. Always wear metallics

Go nuts with the metallic lipstick and eye makeup. It's a little bit goth, a little bit avant-garde, and extremely Derelicte.

2. A good cosmetics compact is essential

For touch-ups, of course, but you can also use it to create basic disguises and sneak into places undetected.

3. Find your look and stick to it

You might be accused of having One Look ("One Look?!"), but as they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Blue Steel is already taken, though. Sorry.

4. Moisture is the essence of wetness

Never underestimate the importance of a good moisturiser. Say it with me now: moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of... beauty. (Post continues after gallery)

5. The restorative powers of an orange mocha frappucino

Feeling down? Struggling with the meaning of life, or the fact you're an ambi-turner and you can't turn left? There's one thing that never fails to make you feel better, and that's grabbing a drink with your fellow male models friends. Spraying one another with gasoline, however, is not adviseable.

6. Remember what's important

Look, there's nothing wrong with looking good, or dressing cool and wearing your hair in interesting ways. But it's important to consider the fact that maybe there's more to life than being really, really, really ridiculously good looking.
