Zoe Foster Blake wants to help mend your broken heart.

Of all the ways one could describe break-ups, “an intensely positive thing” isn’t the phrase many of us would use.

(“Hell” springs to mind. Or “festival of ice cream and tears”.)

However, if you ask Zoe Foster Blake, a break-up is usually a blessing in disguise. And she intends to prove it with her latest project.

The author, beauty writer, Go-To skincare founder and composer of witty Instagram captions has just launched Break-Up Boss, an app to help women handle and heal from even the most painful splits.

“It has a singular goal… To act as a digital pocket coach for your traumatised, fragile, gorgeous little heart,” Zoe explained on Instagram on Tuesday night.

"Why should a break-up be the boss of your life, mood, personality, diet, social life, sleep patterns, and (now ravenous and atrocious) drinking habits? Fuck that. You gotta take back control."

On her website, the soon-to-be mum of two provided more detail of exactly what the app — her "seven-year passion project" — offers.

"Break-Up Boss gives you all of the tools and techniques to deal with all of the stages of your break-up, from blatant denial, to blind rage, to deep, unshakable misery and even those first, sweet strains of getting-over-it," Zoe writes.

"This is a Real Life, no-nonsense picture of a break-up, and an enthusiastic, empowered and positive view of how to deal with it."

Seven years ago I decided to write a book on break-ups. Because I think they’re a gift. A chance for epic growth. Painful but largely misunderstood, like Justin Bieber. But life got busy, and the idea was parked. Then, last year, I realised it should be an APP, not a book! So, I jammed a books' worth of content into a tidy little app, and today that app and idea is finally live. It’s called Break-Up Boss, and it has a singular goal: to help women handle, heal and move on from their breakup in a healthy, positive way. To act as a digital pocket coach for your traumatised, fragile, gorgeous little heart. After all: Why should a break-up be the boss of your life, mood, personality, diet, social life, sleep patterns, and (now ravenous and atrocious) drinking habits? Fuck that. You gotta take back control. You gotta be the boss of your break-up. You gotta make it work for you. And hopefully, with Break-Up Boss, you will. With illustrations by the glorious @bymariandrew, and LOTS of advice (much of which you will hate me for), as well as very fun extra shit - like daily pep-peps, a 'text your ex' function and Spotify playlists - but I can’t detail in full here or they’ll turn the music up and usher me off stage, @breakupboss acknowledges that while break-ups definitely suck, you don’t have to suck at break-ups. Break-Up Boss is now available on the App Store for $9.99, and will be coming to Android in a matter of time (hold tight, amigos).

If you need any further incentive to mend your broken heart, Zoe will donate 10% of every purchase to Safe Steps, a Family Violence Response Centre in Victoria.
