STOP EVERYTHING: Yowies are heading back to Aussie shores.

You know that giant box of tiny figurines of endangered Aussie animals that you have hiding away in the back of your parent’s garage?

Well, it’s time to DUST THEM OFF kiddies, because YOWIES – yes, the chocolate surprise treats of your childhood dreams – are making a comeback on Aussie soil after more than decade off our shelves.

I KNOW, YOU GUYS. THIS IS VERY EXCITING.

If you don’t know what Yowies are then…you were probably more of a Kinder Surprise kid, in which case I actually feel sorry for you because Yowie toys were only the single most greatest part about supermarket shopping trips with Mum.

"Mum, it's learning but MORE DELICIOUS!" Image via Facebook.

Cleverly positioned at the checkout, those little colourful lads, based on Australia's own version of a sasquatch, the Yowie, were easy to sneak onto the conveyer belt.

If you were found out, all you had to say was, 'Mum, I'm learning about endangered native animals' and she couldn't say no.

CHOCOLATE + LEARNING = YES PLEASE.

According to Today Tonight, Yowies have been off making a lot of children happy (and making a lot of money) over in the United States.

Their undeniable success means they will soon be back home. Where they belong.

Hello, our little forgotten friends... Image via Facebook.

We can buy them. We can eat them. We can collect them.

Back in their prime years in the early 2000s (aka THE GOLDEN YOWIE AGE), over one million Yowies were sold each week in Australia. Now, 110,000 Yowies are being produced each day in a New York factory.

Business owner Wayne Loxton has revealed that he gets a lot of enquiries from Aussie fans wanting to know why Americans get Yowies and we don't.

(I promise it's not just me emailing relentlessly, Wayne. There are others, I'm sure.)

The only logical answer is for him to promise us they will be back on home soil "shortly".

In the meantime, clear some valuable space on your shelves. Yowie toys are coming.
