The top six words that women hate.

Prepare to be uncomfortable.

A study has discovered the top six words that make women squirm.

And the research was done by an underwear company. So you KNOW it’s scientific.

Knix Wear (the underwear company) and Mark Liberman, a linguistics expert from the University of Pennsylvania (who knows about words and stuff) surveyed 500 women, finding a list of 40 words that were found to be the worst.

From that list, six words were identified to be particularly gruesome. Six innocent words, without context, that made five hundred women feel a little bit nasty.

Ew.

So here they are. Keep a bucket handy, ladies. I’ll go backwards from Number 6 – but I reckon you can guess what Number 1 is.

6. Flap.

Mmmm. I don’t think we’re talking about bird wings here. When it comes to genitalia, FLAP is not the most delicate term.

5. Curd.

Curd was a bit of a surprise, because personally, ‘curd’ makes me think of lemon tarts. Or lemon meringue pie. Mmmmm. Lemon-based desserts. Hang on, what were we talking about? Supposedly, ‘curd’ was unpopular because it sounds like ‘turd’. And yet ‘turd’ wasn’t in the top six? Ahhh, logic.

Flap. Curd.

4. Chunky.

Forty percent of women found the word ‘chunky’ uncomfortable. They obviously weren’t thinking about salsa or peanut butter fudge ice-cream. My guess is they were either thinking of ‘chunky’ in regards to women’s bodies, or describing vomit. Either way, not nice.

3. Panties.

It just sounds creepy, doesn’t it?

2. Squirt.

An impressive 68% of women squirmed over ‘squirt’. I used to have a habit of calling little kids ‘squirt’. “Hey, squirt! How’s first grade?”. Maybe I’ll stop. Thanks a lot, porn.

Chunky. Panties. Squirt.

And the Number One creepy word?

1. Moist.

Of course. Unless you’re talking about a brownie, ‘moist’ just feels gross in your mouth. And 77% of women agree. Actual studies have been done on the word ‘moist’ to discover why it is so yucky. You can read the study on The Glow, but we warn you; it’s moist.
