The straight-talking woman who turned down a marriage proposal because of her pet dog.

Everyone has non-negotiables when it comes to new relationships.

Whether you can’t abide a partner who wears Crocs or one that can’t cook, certain things are deal breakers.

Just ask Karishma Walia, the Bengaluru woman who rejected an arranged marriage to a suitor from a well-to-do family because he didn’t like her dog, Lucy.

"I don't want a dog to come in between my love life and not share the same bed...that's for sure," he said, according to a screenshot from a WhatsApp conversation that was shared on Twitter.

"And my mom (sic) doesn't like dogs in general."

Walia confirmed: this was gong to be "an issue".

Apparently, hubby-absolutely-not-to-be couldn't believe it (obviously, not a pet owner).

"Are you serious?" he asked. "My God."

He then went on to suggest perhaps the dog thing was just "a temporary phase" and perhaps Walia ought to marry her dog instead.

(We're sure she would if she could, c'mon...)

She told him not to be "arrogant".

"My mom (sic) thought he’s an excellent match because he’s good-looking and well-off," she later explained to BuzzFeed. "There was a lot of family pressure, and they still think I did the wrong thing by raising the concern about my dog."

Don't worry, we totally get it.
