For Annie, an elderly Dutch woman nearing her 100th birthday, there was just one item she desperately wanted to strike from her list: get arrested.

Last week, the local police in the northern Netherlands town of Nijmegen-Zuid granted the 99-year-old’s wish and “booked” her so she could get the “inside experience”.

She was shown handcuffed and smiling from ear-to-ear on the station’s Facebook page, which explained how she’d always wanted to “experience a police cell from within”.

We’ve never seen someone so delighted to spend the night in lock up.
