A man has asked the internet if it's weird he swaps sides of the bed with his wife...and sir, yes. It is.

A man has started a viral debate about something, that we didn’t even know…was a thing.

Apparently some couples, swap what side of the bed they sleep on.

Sorry. That’s not a thing that is OK.

Surely, the unwritten rule in a partnership, is that once you’ve picked said bed side – that’s it. You’re done. You’ve imprinted. No?

On the topic of relationships. Here are some 20-somethings talking about dating. Post continues after video.

The Twitter comment was posted casually online;

“We were just chatting in work and apparently it’s weird that Amy and I don’t sleep on the same side of the bed every night.

“Some nights I like to sleep by the window, some nights the door. It’s not really that unusual, is it?” it read.

Yes random, Twitter man, it IS unusual.

He went further, to clarify some points:

1. First one in, chooses.

2. We’ve never disagreed over it.

3. We move pillows and books as we move.

4. We don’t change every single night.

5. Neither of us are aliens.

We obviously disagree with all of the above. Isn’t everyone’s side of the bed like…set up for them? You’ve got your phone cord how you like it, your book, your lip balm within reach. Who rearranges their whole bedside situation on the regular? That feels like a lot of unnecessary effort.

Also, this is definitely something to disagree about.

You can’t just…disrupt the routine. Who wants to have to think about a race for the bedroom every night to ‘get the good spot.’ You make this decision once, at the start. Then it is never spoken about again. It’s embedded. Done.

Even amongst the Mamamia editorial team, it’s a hot topic. While most (thankfully) thought it is an abhorrent suggestion, one team member mentioned that they do it “for fun.”

“It’s like going to a hotel, mixes things up,” they said.

This reply poster sums it up perfectly, stating; “It’s a bit like saying ‘I think I’ll go sleep in the neighbour’s house tonight.”

If you read the hundreds of comments on the Twitter thread, another topic pops up; “You don’t have a side of the couch, or a set seat at the table. [this just] adds another resting place.”

Um, yes. You do.

Who doesn’t have a set seat at the table, or a regular spot on the couch. Isn’t that… normal?

What. Is going on.
