Guess it's time to redecorate then...

Welcome to Mamamia’s art endeavour, the Voulez-Vous Project. Every week we celebrate emerging artists, designers, illustrators, creators and women who knit using their vaginas. (Kidding. Maybe.)

The aim: to make the internet a slightly more beautiful, captivating, or thought-provoking place. To find out more about the Voulez-Vous project, click here.

This week’s featured artists on the Voulez-Vous project are ‘Angus & Celeste’ – otherwise known as design duo Keir Angus MacDonald and Asha Celeste Cato. They are ceramics artists from the outer Melbourne region, who aim to “combine simple materials with complicated processes to produce nothing less than pure objects of desire.”

“Ceramics is an incredibly tactile medium but also a tricky medium to work with. When you do resolve something in ceramic it is incredibly rewarding but can take years to refine a consistent and original technique,” they explain. “We both love the long lasting nature of ceramics and also the way it can be used is daily life.  Clay is arguably the first artistic medium used by man and also has a functionality directly linked to food. Many of the earliest pieces of lost civilisations are the ceramic objects they used in their daily life.”

The duo say that they are constantly amazed by the infinite effects that can be accomplished using ceramics, just through heating raw materials that have been dug up from the ground. “There is an alchemy involved in the process and minute changes in material source and temperature can yield the most unpredictable results.”

The Angus & Celeste wares include jewellery, home-wares and garden-wares – and all are objects of beauty.
