Former Spice Girl and fashion powerhouse Victoria Beckham has cracked a rare smile at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York.

The mum of four received the Fashion Force prize at the prestigious event for her work in the fashion industry and as a philanthropist.

She was presented the award by her 16-year-old son, Brooklyn.

Brooklyn said he was "proud" of his mum.

“We are all so proud of you, and I'm so excited to be here with you tonight to present you with this award. I love you," he said.

Victoria, who wore a striking red dress from her own collection, was clearly moved by her son's sweet introduction.

In her acceptance speech, she said she was "honoured" to receive the award, and thanked her family, including husband David, for their ongoing support.

"I'm incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunities that I have, both in business and in my philanthropic work," she said.

"As for fashion, I love what I do and I feel blessed to have been given the chance to pursue and fulfil my career ambitions. It started with the Spice Girls and "Girl Power" and now I am channelling that same message to women through my collections. I want to support, empower and really make women feel like the best versions of themselves."

She said she owed her business and philanthropic success and happy family life to David.

"Not only is he the most incredible father, but he's supportive and someone who loves and inspires me every single day."

But in typical Posh Spice style, Victoria didn't take herself too seriously. She later posted the above picture to Instagram, making fun of herself with the caption, "

Yes she smiled! I'm happy."
