It seems that if you’re an iconic model, young actress or Broadway beauty, the time is NOW to do something drastic to your hair.

I’m getting a serious case of hair envy. If anyone’s looking for me, I’ll be in the bathroom hacking off my hair and then dunking it into a bowl of bleach.

Tyra taught us all about the “smize” – smiling with your eyes – on her hit show, America’s Next Top Model, and she was smizing hard on March 20th, when she unveiled a shorter-than-short pixie cut.

It's a huge change from her previously boob-length locks. This new style beautifully frames her eyes, while also being versatile enough to rough up with some product, for a messier look. While making the big, “do-I-chop” decision, I’m sure that Tyra ultimately said to her mane, “Hair, you must immediately return to your room, pack your belongings, and go home.”

Seemingly seconds after removing her extensions and getting a long, wavy bob, Sarah Hyland has reached for the scissors again. On Instagram, she revealed a much shorter, chin-length bob, with a surprised facial expression. She captioned her photo with, “Aaaaand it's gone. Summer hair! Thank you@nikkilee901 for always keeping my hair healthy and for givin me the freshest cuts”.

Yep, that’s exactly how I felt when I chopped my hair, except no-one cared as much.

Idina Menzel

Broadway singer and voice of Elsa from Frozen, Idina Menzel, has dyed her hair blonde. I call this the Kim Kardashian Blonding Effect. Speculation is rife that she is trying to make herself look like Elsa, who is a cartoon character. Who wouldn’t want to be Elsa? It looks great, but one has to pause to consider the pain and damage that hardcore brunettes must endure, in order to reach that level of blonde.

And now, I must say this, because I can’t hold it in any longer: sometimes, when you’re a brunette, you just need to look at your dark hair colour and sing, “LET IT GO, LET IT GO!” Sorry, guys, I couldn’t resist singing that song. It’s just so catchy.
