The five most watched YouTube videos of all time all have one secret thing in common.

The most viewed YouTube video of all time has been watched just short of three billion times.

This month, See You Again, by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, overtook Gangnam Style as the most viewed video. The song, released in 2015, was commissioned for the soundtrack of Furious 7 as a tribute to the film’s star Paul Walker who died in a car accident.

Second, is Gangnam Style by Psy, followed by Despacito by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee, which is the second fastest video ever to reach one billion views. It is predicted that in the coming weeks, it will rise to number one.

Coming in at number four is Sorry by Justin Bieber, who is the only artist to have four videos hit over one billion views. Rounding out the top five is Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, which has been watched two and a half billion times.

The first obvious similarity is that they’re all men. It’s worth noting that Taylor Swift, Adele, Katy Perry and Meghan Trainor all feature in the top 15.

But the most interesting thread that ties the top five YouTube videos of all time is one music college in the United States.

Berklee College of Music in Boston boasts famous alumni like John Mayer, Steven Tyler and Meghan Trainor, and is one of the largest independent colleges of contemporary music.

Not long after See You Again was released on YouTube, Charlie Puth was a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she said, "You go to Berklee College of Music, which explains a little bit of why you're so talented."

South Korean pop sensation Psy is too an alumni of Berklee. Although he didn't graduate from his course, Psy studied ear training, contemporary writing and music synthesis.

Despacito was engineered by Luis Saldarriaga who, you guessed it, studied at Berklee. Justin Bieber heard the song while he was in Colombia, and was so impressed that he contacted their management and rerecorded the song. It's currently the number one song just about everywhere in the Western world.

Bieber's Sorry, the fourth most watched video, was written by Justin Tranter who studied at Berklee. Ronson's Uptown Funk was produced by Berklee graduate Jeff Bhasker, and engineered and mixed by Berklee graduate, Josh Blair.

So if you want a video to reach the status of most viewed in history, the recipe is simple.

It needs the magic touch of someone from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
