With a double dissolution election looming the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced an shocking Cabinet reshuffle.
While Senator Michaelia Cash was only appointed to the post of Minister for Women in September, Turnbull has opted to return the portfolio to former prime minister Tony Abbott, who famously held the post for two years.
Abbott’s achievements as Minister for Women are well documented, with the Member for Warringah famously telling Today show host Lisa Wilkinson repealing the carbon tax was his biggest win in the role.
A press conference is expected later today where Abbott will formally announce his return to the Turnbull Ministry.
