"Life is too precious, not to do what you love and love what you do."

Welcome to Mamamia’s art endeavour, the Voulez-Vous Project. Every week we celebrate emerging artists, designers, illustrators, creators and women who knit using their vaginas. (Kidding. Maybe.)

The aim: to make the internet a slightly more beautiful, captivating, or thought-provoking place. To find out more about the Voulez-Vous project, click here

This week’s featured artist on the Voulez-Vous project is Sarah Pook – who creates works through her brand Little Quarters – including unique illustrations, prints, wall hangings, banners and cushions for the home.  All the objects and artworks are made by Sarah, and printed on Melbourne.

“My illustrations of skulls, feathers, bohemian beauties and wild flowers are a mad mix of whimsical meets dark and edgy. My illustrations are of a simplistic nature with just a hint of colour, and the use of the unique custom LQ wax seal which stamps each print ensuring its authenticity has become a signature mark and very much a detail in my work.”

Sarah says that she is inspired to make art, because she knows the importance of doing what you love every day.

“Although always having been a creative type, the recent passing of my beautiful big sister to cancer has shown me that life really is too short and precious not to do what you love and love what you do,” Sarah explains.

“I’m a bit of a collector. I am attracted to, and surround myself with beautiful things, often pieces found on my travels,” she continues. “I must have been a bowerbird in a past life! Within my illustrations I try to create that very thing I search for, for others to collect. Pieces with a special uniqueness, which tell a story and which have meaning.  I hope my work portrays this, and hope people are drawn to it because of this.”
