The more I watch Masterchef, the worse my cooking becomes.








Frankly, the thought of that is about as attainable as waking up tomorrow morning able to speak Mandarin. So without even making a conscious decision about it, I lowered the bar and dinner is now about assembling bits and pieces or reheating or opening cans or persuading Luca (the real chef in the house) to whip up a stir fry (if there is some DOCS law against saying to your child "Please can you make dinner tonight, PLEASE?" I have broken it countless times).

But these past few weeks, somehow, I'm now not even able to re-heat something without burning it. Last week it was an apple pie I bought at the grower's markets. This week, store-bought lasagne. I am rapidly developing a morbid fear of my own oven.
