My son was born 10 weeks early which was hard. I mean other than the obvious problems that we had to deal with I had less time to decide on a name than most people do.

I knew early on that he was going to be a boy so that cut about 50%, okay 40% of the names off my list but still there were so many choices.

I liked Bailey but I worked at the time with someone whose surname was Bailey so let’s just say that was out of the question.

I loved Jason, Jackson, Justin, Jordan, Jonah, Judd and any other name that began with a J*

I really liked the name Alex but I knew an Alex once and the last time I saw him he was in rehab

I liked the names Stuart, Chris, Devon, Oscar, Ryan and Dylan but I had been a teacher in a previous life and I had taught boys with these names and er, I didn’t want to go there.

When he was born and they rushed him off to intensive care they asked for his name. My husband confidently replied “Ethan”.
