Portland resident Buckley Jeppson decided to find out why people buy guns by walking into a gun shop and asking.

The answers he got were frightening. And at times, just weird.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, less than a week since 49 innocent people were killed at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, he wrote about his experience.

He detailed his questions and the responses, which quickly revealed the real reason many feel the need to sell guns or arm themselves with high-powered weapons that create such devastating effects.

"Today I went to my local gun store (US Guns, 9063 SW Barbur Blvd.) to ask about AR-15 guns. I didn't go in to berate, but to try to understand why a store would sell such weapons. The two young guys in the store were understandably jittery but tried to answer my questions.
