TAKE MY MONEY: The 'tent dress' is the no-brainer fashion trend we need right now.

If you’re looking for a new piece to add to your wardrobe, might we suggest you consider the ‘tent dress’.

What is a tent dress, you ask? Well, it’s that silhouette you’ve probably already seen everywhere. Which is definitely true if you work in the Mamamia office.

Mamamia reviews: Non-family-friendly fashion. Post continues below.

It features an oversized, voluminous fit that billows out to an A-line, or – as the name suggests – a tent-esque shape. It’s oh-so-chic, easy to wear and super comfortable, whether you’re hiding a food baby or stuck working from home.

There’s a variety of lengths to choose from too. A midi dress makes for the perfect thrown-on look for work or weekend drinks, while shorter lengths will give you lots of wear from now to the depths of winter. Just add some opaque tights, a jacket and some boots.

My personal obsession with the 'tent dress' began with this Aere number, that multiple people in the office now own. While it's sadly since sold out, there's still a number of styles to choose from. Image: Supplied / Jess Wang.

The best thing about the 'tent dress' is that while it may look like a statement piece, it's a breeze to wear and style. The bold silhouette does the accessorising for you. You can dress the look down with sneakers, boots or a pair of sandals, or add some heels and a statement earring if the dress code calls for a bit more effort. While the point of the look is that it's a bit over-sized and shapeless, an oversized belt cinched at the waist wouldn't go astray either.
