Schools in New South Wales and Victoria have been evacuated as a precaution today while authorities deal with a number of bomb threats.

Police operations are currently underway at schools in both states.

In NSW, threats were made to schools in Mona Vale on Sydney’s northern beaches, Woolooware in Sydney’s south, and Richmond and Penrith in Sydney’s west.

And in Victoria, at least two schools experienced similar threats, with Fairfax Media naming  Berwick Chase Primary in Berwick, Aitken Creek Primary School in Craigieburn and Reservoir High School in Reservoir, among those targeted.

The threats were reportedly made between 10.50am and 11.10am.

Victoria Police say  the evacuations are a precaution and that  “number of other states and countries have received similar phone calls in the past 24 hours”.

New South Wales Police said schools in the metropolitan and southern districts had received numerous threats, and cautioned that any hoaxers would be charged.

“Making such threats is a serious criminal offence and every effort will be made to identify the person or persons responsible.”
