Schapelle Corby’s boyfriend has reportedly been arrested on drugs charges and is currently in jail in Bali.

News Corp reports police allege the man, 32-year-old Ben Panangian, was caught with marijuana in a Nusa Dua street.

A later search of the man’s home in home allegedly found more marijuana in his wardrobe, according to News Corp.

Police paraded him with a group of other drug suspects at a press converence in Denpasar this week — and Panangian now faces a maximum 12 years in jail under Article 111 of Indonesia’s strict narcotic laws.

Schapelle and Panangian, who is from from the Indonesian province of Sumatra, met in 2006 in Bali’s Kerobokan Jail during a prison church service. Both were prisoners at the time; Panangian was serving time for drugs offences.

As Panangian told New Idea in 2009: “When I visit she always asks me to give her a big hug because affection is something she craves and misses.”

“I’m scared she thinks she cannot survive and says her life is not worth living. She’s only holding on for her family,” he said.

Corby, 37, was released from jail in February and her parole conditions include staying away from drugs or crime.
