Sam Frost shares her first social media post since her split from Sasha Mielczarek.

This week we learned the sad news that former Bachelorette Sam Frost and her boyfriend Sasha Mielczarek had parted ways before Christmas.

The pair had been together for 18 months since meeting on the Channel 10 reality show, but they had come to the shared decision that the best way forward for both of them was to separate.

A statement issued earlier this week explained the reason for the breakup was distance.

“It is important to stress that there is no bitterness or scandal,” the statement read.

“They wholeheartedly respect and cherish the friendship they have for one another which will continue moving forward.”

Breakups are excruciatingly difficult. And it’s near impossible to imagine what it’s like when it is being played out in the public eye.

Frost has now shared her first social media post since their split was announced. And it truly could not be more perfect, nor witty.

“This facial expression pretty much sums up my 2016. Happy New Year’s Legends,” she wrote.

“Now let’s all put our hands in the middle and make a virtual pact, to not be so hard on ourselves when we inevitably screw up 2017 in the first few days.”

Between the loss of too many beloved film and music icons, the unexpected rise of Donald Trump and exploding Samsung phones, 2016 has been a pretty crappy year for a lot of us.

And unfortunately Frost was not spared from the curse of 2016. Since appearing on The Bachelor‘s second season, her career, relationship and appearance has unfairly and increasingly faced relentless criticism, speculation and online bullying.

In July this year she told her trolls they had “broken” her and she went on to open up about her mental health battle. She later made the decision to deactivate her social media accounts.

So 2016 has been bloody tough, and thank goodness it’s finally over.

Sam, we only hope you realise just how much of a strong, smart, driven, beautiful woman you are.

You’ll always be an inspiration in our eyes and we wish you a ripper 2017.
