Russell Brand and fiancée Laura Gallacher have welcomed their first baby.

Russell Brand and his fiancée Laura Gallacher have welcomed their first child after a very private pregnancy.

Brand’s 27-year-old partner gave birth over the weekend, and Daily Mail have confirmed they had a girl named Mabel.

The couple has previously shared intentions to raise their child gender-neutral.

Ahead of the birth, the 41-year-old comedian and actor told Jonathan Ross, “We don’t know the gender. I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, let the child grow up and be whatever the hell it is.”

Although, this is proving to be difficult already, with Laura Gallacher’s sister – a high profile television presenter in the UK – inadvertently revealing the sex in a congratulatory tweet.

“Proud to be an auntie for the first time,” wrote Kristy Gallacher, before adding, “sadly can’t meet her ’til am well.”

While Brand and Gallacher didn’t officially announce the pregnancy, Russell Brand confirmed rumours with an Instagram post in July, where he was pictured with ‘The Expectant Dad’s Handbook.’

The 41-year-old comedian and actor reportedly announced the birth during a stand-up performance on Sunday. A fan told The Mirror “he was conscious of the clock and made sure he was off stage by just approaching 9pm as he ‘needed to get down the f***ing M21 as my girlfriend has just had a baby’.”

Brand recently gushed over the idea of being a dad in an interview with Evening Standard magazine. “I feel lit up by the idea,” he said.

“I’m very excited about becoming a dad and I’m preparing myself. I am just getting ready to be with a new little person and see what it is they want.”
