We now know why Meghan Markle's pageboy looked so excited in that viral wedding photo.

As Meghan Markle stepped out in front of St. George’s Chapel on Saturday, all eyes were on her stunning Givenchy gown and dramatic veil. But the moment she stepped into the chapel, to begin her much-anticipated walk down the aisle, something else caught viewers’ attention.

This. Face.

Markle’s pageboys Brian and John, the seven-year-old twin sons of her close friend Jessica Mulroney, were given the very important role of carrying her veil. But Brian’s very excited face was caught in the background of the now-iconic image of Markle looking whimsically down the aisle.

Of course, it’s now gone viral, and Brian and John’s father, Ben Mulroney, has explained to Canadian breakfast show Your Morning why his son was so bloody excited.

“I asked him, and he said he’d never heard a trumpet before,” Ben said.

“I think when he walked in, he saw all the people there, and the flowers, none of that was there during the rehearsal.

“We talked about where Jess and I would be sitting, so we really didn’t see them until they got to the front of the church.”

Ben said it wasn’t until well after the ceremony that he realised his son had become a viral meme – since phones were banned in the chapel.

He also added that his three children, including four-year-old daughter Ivy, made friends with their fellow bridesmaids and page boys in the lead up to the wedding.

“The kids had a chance to get to know each other a little bit at these rehearsals and some get-togethers as well,” he said.

“They sort of came together in a little bit of a ‘club’ before this happened.”.

A club with the likes of Prince George and Princess Charlotte definitely sounds like a lot of fun.
