Rita Ora somehow made glitter hair gel work

Remember glitter hair gel? The sticky, sparkly hair tamer your mum wouldn’t let you wear on school photo day? The stuff your brother would nick and then pretend he hadn’t touched? The gunk you used to hold your scrunched, frizzy fringe?

Well, it’s back.

Rita Ora is championing the glitter gel revival, and we have to admit, it looks kind of amazing. She showed off the purple sparkly look at her show at the 2014 Energy In The Park concert in Berlin.

Her hairstylist Chris Appelton created finger waves along her hairline, but instead of sticking to the usual hair taming suspects, he amped up her look with a glitter gel to hold the curls in place.

Rita Ora's ultra-cool version looks very different to how we remember glitter gel in the 90s.

It's like a Puffy paint pen and glitter made a baby; a gorgeous lilac baby. It has us suddenly wanting to scour the shelves at Priceline to see if there's somehow a hangover bottle of the stuff that has survived two decades of stocktake clearances.

It hasn't. We checked, but if you're really interested/or have a child that you could "buy" it for, there's this Disney Princess Glitter Hair and Body Spray.
