Queensland parents charged with raping their two daughters and filming it.

A Townsville couple have been charged with the horrific abuse of their two young daughters after raping them over the course of a number of years.

The parents, aged 42 and 32 respectively, filmed much of the ongoing abuse as a means of creating and producing movies.

The daughters, now 12 and 14, have been taken into protection after one of the girls spoke to a friend about what was going on at home.

The Courier Mail are reporting that the abuse occurred over the course of about four years, with Townsville Child Protection Investigation Unit officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Miles saying the couple were arrested earlier this month.

“(We allege) both mum and dad have actively engaged in the sexual abuse of both children and the charges reflect the severity of the actions we’ve been able to identify at this stage,” he said.

Sen-Sgt Miles also said his team do not believe the investigation is “complete”, with police considering the possibility that further charges will be laid upon full investigation of the home.

“We are anticipating there will be further charges and that will relate to the full review of the forensic examination of their electronic devices.

“The children have been basically indoctrinated and groomed in such a way that they believe that this behaviour is normal,” he said.

The Courier Mail were also reporting that police believe the girls did not protest the abuse over time as they were conditioned to believe it was normal.

“There is no protest, there is no active resistance on their part because it becomes part of their normal behaviours,” Sen-Sgt Miles said.

The couple will be remanded in custody until June 30.
