The close friendship between divorced royals Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew has long been a source of rumours.

Unlike many former married couples, Fergie, the Duchess of York, and Prince Andrew, the son of the Queen and Prince Philip, have remained famously close over the years.

Their ability to remain friends comes despite their scandal-ridden 1996 split, announced four years after infamous photos of the Duchess of York having her toes sucked by American businessman John Bryan emerged.

They even still live together – and at daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank last month, they appeared to put on a united front.

Many people were also surprised by the fact that Fergie appeared standing next to Prince Philip – who has reportedly held animosity towards the controversial family member for many years – in the official wedding photographs, suggesting that the family may have moved on from the past.

Now, in her first full interview in 20 years, Fergie has finally addressed the rumours regarding her relationship with Prince Andrew – saying she’s “not divorced from Andrew – she’s divorced TO him”.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, 59-year-old Fergie gushed over her ex-husband, describing the pair as the “happiest divorced couple in the world”.

While the answer to whether they would remarry seemed to be “no”, she appeared to hint that there may still be remnants of romance between the pair.

“The way we are is our fairy tale,” she said.

“Although we are not a couple, we really believe in each other. The Yorks are a united family. We’ve shown it. You saw it at the wedding.”

When asked if she loves him, Fergie responded:

“We both say it. We are completely compatible.”

“July 23, 1986 was the happiest day of my life,” she added of their wedding.

Fergie went on to describe Andrew as ‘the best man she knows’, and while a second marriage is not on the cards, added:

“We’re so happy with the way we are right now.”

“We enjoy each other’s company; we allow each other to blossom.”

Whatever that means  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
